Fundraiser Workshop: Building Calm & Empowering Young Social Learners
Gowanus Treehouse will be hosting a fundraiser workshop on November 17th from 1-2pm. This past year Gowanus Treehouse began working with local Early Childhood Development Center’s Head Start program (BSECDC) to bring them 3 sensory gyms in Bed-Sty. We are now setting our sights on expanding our impact internationally. In February 2025, Gowanus Treehouse will be joining the medical team at the Global Health Force, for their mission trip to the Philippines. Global Health Force (GHF) is a nonprofit organization seeking to provide health care to underserved communities addressing global healthcare challenges to make meaningful differences through the spirit of volunteerism. We are seeking support to cover the expenses of allowing us to bring our experience in occupational therapy and creating therapeutic spaces to communities in the Philippines.
Please join us for an interactive, one-hour workshop led by pediatric occupational therapists, designed to equip parents, caregivers, educators, and service providers with effective tools to support children’s self-regulation. Learn how to recognize early signs of emotional dysregulation, the difference between meltdowns and tantrums, and practical strategies to create a calm environment. Through hands-on demonstrations and simple techniques like sensory tools and breathing exercises, you’ll gain confidence in helping children avoid meltdowns and better manage their emotions.
There is a zoom option as well for those who cannot attend in person. All participants will receive materials and presentation notes to take home. Additionally, the Treehouse is offering open gym play time ($30) led by an occupational therapist for children during the workshop.
